Remembering Some Stuff
This blog is, of course, about relocating to Sweden, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some sweat things in Bellingham-Ferndale-Whatcom County.Of course our daughter and son are there, and they can’t drop by. But they have dual citizenship and might try Europe on for size themselves.
Kayaking off Birch Bay into the kelp forests and onto secluded beaches, or South of Fairhaven to Chuckanut Island were memorable. And the upper Nooksack River, about 45 minutes from our house, offered great whitewater rafting — that’s where Marie is sitting — as did the Chilliwack across the border in Canada, only an hour from our home, the Thompson, and calmly, the Skagit. Cascadia Weekly gave me a great opportunity to write about five rafting trips in about a month. Great fun.
On the political front, pretty much all the players in Whatcom County were well-known, but most of the battles were worn and stale.
Saw a gorgeous puppy at the paint supply store down the street. Must have gotten homesick for a few things including Max (the dog). We placed all the pets with respected rescue non-profits and try to check in on them.
