The Gods Welcomed Me
The constellation Orion has always been my favorite — easily
recognizable and includes some well known stars. Saw it for the first time in Sweden tonight perhaps b/c I was up late on a clear night.
I’ve seen the dippers previously, but I am not great on the other constellations. They never quite look like they do on the star map.
But tonight, straight out the balcony, and in spite of the intense street lights — was Orion sitting over Storgatan. Huge. Looming larger than it did from my patio in Fernberg. Perhaps someone like David Fischer can explain that. Longitude and the season, I presume.
But it was a welcoming sign. The gods said hello.
